March 24 Clubcast is Now Available: 20th meeting: The Pirate Upgrade Option, The P2P Updates System, and The Samsung Deal for Device Defaults

Hi Clubbers,
Today I wanted to share Microsoft topics: the pirate upgrade option, the P2P updates system, and the Samsung deal for device defaults, but I was off the ball (about 5 days late.) As it turns out Microsoft backed away from their original stance on illegitimate copies of Windows. I wont go into all the detail, but here are links to sources that show the original position and intention of Microsoft, and the articles that reflect their change in stance.

Pirate’s get Windows 10 for free

Pirate’s will get a trial/demo version of Windows 10

This looks legit and I am a little embarrassed when listening to myself disregard this possibility. Big kudos to the fellow that was on the ball today (name to be put here when learned/remembered.) He is a great contributor to our group. Please keep up the good info.

Other then feeling like an ass, I had a great time! And here it is. In all it’s glory! Today’s meeting…

Tech on!

  1. This original article and the original quote from Terry Myerson, who runs Microsoft’s operating systems unit.

    http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/03/18/us-microsoft-china-idUSKBN0ME06A20150318

” “We are upgrading all qualified PCs, genuine and non-genuine, to Windows 10,” he said in a telephone interview with Reuters. The plan is to “re-engage” with the hundreds of millions of users of Windows in China, he said, without elaboration.”

Microsoft immediately begin to qualify what his statement means. Now they’re still qualifying (i.e., changing and restating.)
