November 17, 2020 :08: Flutter, Flutter, Flutter : Quarantine Meeting #37

There was a bunch of stuff in our last meeting that I’m not gonna get into here. Last week my daughter turned 15 and we had a quinceñera. Any Latino would tell you that is a monumental task with lots of stress and activity take place throughout the week. As a result I did not get to give this podcast a lot of attention. I (and we) are exhausted. So what follows is the raw meeting with no editing and no special intro from Vivi. I hope you find it useful and entertaining at least enough to come back for the next meeting.

Today’s meeting covered the following topic:

TV Recommendations:

  • The Trump Show (BBC2) – so far I’ve found the first episode using Kodi, but I cannot find the two other episodes anywhere other than at the BBC for people residing in the UK.
  • The Firm (Prime for purchase) – is a Canadian-American one-hour legal thriller television series that began airing on January 8, 2012, on Global in Canada and NBC in the United States and in February 2012 on AXN, and is a sequel to the 1991 John Grisham novel of the same name and its 1993 film adaptation. The television adaptation is set ten years after the novel and film…from Wikipedia.

Movie Recommendation:  The Maiden Heist (Prime) – is a 2009 comedy film directed by Peter Hewitt and starring Morgan Freeman, Christopher Walken, William H. Macy and Marcia Gay Harden.[1] The film was released as The Heist in the United Kingdom…from Wikipedia.

Apps Recommendations:

  • VSDC – video editing studio for Windows if you’re on a budget. Free to use and you can kick-on pro tools for $20.00 USD.
  • Express VPN – if you need whole home VPN, then they have a great router based app that makes it easy to choose where you want to connect.

Reoccurring Themes

Our meeting’s YouTube video is available at: https://youtu.be/QG-3-ujmopU

We have returned to Tuesday meetings at a new start time of 10:00am. We will continue our virtual format with online meetings in Google Meet.

Currently, we are using the Google Meet code: [rgb-rrgc-gqp] for our weekly meeting. This code will probably be the same for next meeting. Check our blog sccClub.org for notifications when in doubt.

The Google Meet is scheduled on Google Calendar. If you want to be on that calendar invitation, then provide me your Google account id. Also, provide me with your email address, or follow the appropriate accounts to see a reminder sent out by email, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and WordPress on the day of our meeting.

A CHALLENGE: Can you design a phrase or dialog to trigger and execute a smart speaker commands, while masquerading as conversation? #speakerhacker – Any command execution counts, for example: play a song, get the weather, turn on/off a light. The goal is to covertly execute the command with conversation. We’ll play with our speakers and check back in next week. (see article: Uncovered: 1,000 phrases that incorrectly trigger Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant.)

Special thanks to all of you that have been helping in my endeavors. The things I am doing would not be possible without your support.

Remember, you can always show your support by taking a moment to go on YouTube and iTunes to review, like, and subscribe. When you do this, it gives our efforts greater exposure and this is as valuable, and as appreciated as any contribution. (don’t get me wrong. I could always use some money. hahaha.) Thank you.

I am always looking forward to our next meeting. Feel free to ‘prep me’ ahead of time with any topics you would enjoy discussing.

Everyone take care and #techOn!
